I had the opportunity to play fiddle for the musical "Big River" and it was such a blast!  There is a scene where there are slaves crossing the river and they sing a short song called "The Crossing".  I wanted to create my own arrangement for this song,  extend the length and incorporate some beautiful harmonies that I heard in my head.  We had absolutely no road map for what I wanted to do, so I love that our vocalists and band were able to execute this on the fly!  This is our first and only time ever doing this song; I hope to record it someday.  (Unfortunately, the very first three lines weren't taped in time, but it's okay because this verse is repeated!)
